Used Vest Exchange Program
Body Armor Outlet has put together what seems to be a revolutionary program. We are willing to buy back used body armor from any Police
department, Government Agency, or Civilian and either give a credit towards a new equipment, or simply cut you a check. We will not accept
body armor that either contains Zylon or that has been shot or stabbed.
What do we pay for body armor?
We determine the value of your used vests by inspecting them and determining what they can be used for. Typically we will pay $5.00 to
$75.00 per vest that is older than 5 years. If a vest is less than 5 years old we will offer around $75.00 to $150.00 per.
What do we do with the used body armor?
We have found there are many uses for used vests. Many people do not know that Police Officers in many states are not provided with body
armor and cannot afford to purchase new armor. According to The Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police 35% of officers in the state do not
wear body armor. This is not an uncommon occurrence. We pledge to help officers nationwide by taking what one department no longer needs and
bring it to another department that is in need. We are participating in the Armor of God Project who facilitates the donating of vests to
departments in need. We have found a need for body armor overseas to outfit Military vehicles for extra protection from IEDs. Last we find
miscellaneous uses for this armor, such as but not limited to making custom armor devices, reselling to security guards, testing purposes,
range shoots, heat buffering devices, and any other ideas that are brought to us within reason.
Why should a department sell their used body armor?
For many reasons, to name a few; departments can offset their cost of new equipment, clear out space in the department, and put their used
equipment to good use or more importantly a good cause.
What if our department only wants our body armor to go towards one cause?
We will make it happen. If you want to specify what your donation will go towards, we will honor that request and make sure that is in
writing for your department records.
